Note to visitors

This website is intended to be experienced as a kind of open studio. The door is left open to reveal a shifting sprawling set of traces of some of the research paths followed by Francesca da Rimini in collaboration with friends, colleagues and fellow travellers in the development of the project now entitled 'soft accidents - 7 beauties and the war room'.

The project was conceived in 1998 and originally took as its starting point certain ideas in quantum physics, with an intention to interweave specific theories from the Western scientific tradition about the nature of time, space and matter, with particular ways of thinking drawn from Indigenous knowledge bases.

Life usefully ignores art's best and worst intentions, sometimes serendipititiously drawing the maker into unforseen drift zones, far from the original maps and plans, perhaps to eventually end up only slightly south-west of one's original destination.

soft accidents is in the process of becoming 7 beauties and the war room, less about quantum physics and more about micro and macro cycles and systems of creation and destruction. A DVD will be the final art trace of this project, downloadable online in september 2004.
