Frogspawn.

I think England is due for a plague of frogs this summer. Everyone I know has spawn in their ponds.
Digital cameras may be useless at the broad picture but they are great for recording changes in the garden

Week 9

Day 61 Monday 15th March

The big event today was the reception for the   Writer in Residence Bernard Cohen who will be based here at real space Nottingham between July and December. For some reason I had assumed he would resemble the protaginist of his novel "The Blind Man's Hat" but he seemed a nice, normal slightly jet-lagged guy.

He gave us three readings , one from each of his published books, very diverse in content.  (The other two books are "The Tourist" and "Snowdome"

The reception was well-attended and it was pleasant to meet people I had so far only conversed with by mail.

Day 63 Wednesday 16th March

My computer broke down Monday night, or rather the modem did. Oddly I could get through to the web on my distant server but not my local one. I could not send mail on either but then I never can send via the distant server except when I have received a message via it and do a post to author.
Something I will have to find out. Why can I only send post through the local server. When I set the distant server as the default I can still not send out through it not even when I try writing a post again from scratch using the 'new message' button.
To come back to the broken modem. My local server said if I took my system box down to them they would look at it. free - one of the perks of having a local server they said. They got it working again, said it was a loose wire (but why the wire was only loose when I was trying to get through to them I do not know.)
Right I had the computer working again but at some time during its outing the shortcut to Front Page had disappeared from Desk top. When I found the application it refused to recognise the personal server that is essential to its working. I re-installed it but the personal server still did not work. I uninstalled it and re-installed it. This produced a new personal server which was recognised, but the new Front Page did not recognise the old web sites. I transferred every website over into the new personal web with disastrous results. The pictures had all picked up a C: path. The borders had been replaced by the default ones. I had to modify every page and picture tag before I could send anything to my personal site. Another 2.a.m bed-time. Well at least I am beginning to find my way round Front Page.
