Current Projects

trAce supports a number of online projects and collaborations between writers, readers, artists and programmers. Some projects are time-limited and some ongoing, and much of this activity occurs inside the online Community. Creative projects may be exclusive to trAce or run as part of a Festival, larger project or writing class. We are always interested in hearing ideas for new projects and if your suggestion is promising we may provide you with space to develop it. (See also Studios)

Incubation
Incubation2 is the second trAce International Conference on Writing & the Internet, and the premier international event for writers working on the web. In 2000 it attracted 150 delegates from around the world, including America, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Holland, Norway, Slovenia and Sweden. 2002 promises to be even bigger. Incubation2 is not just a chance to hear some of the best writers working on the web today. It will provide a showcase for the writing of the future and offer a glimpse into the work of writers who use the internet to develop ground-breaking content: poetry with sound and images, personal histories, news, journalism, stories with multiple endings. This is writing on the web, for the web, and about the web. Incubation II will be held from 15-17th July 2002, again in Nottingham.

M is for Nottingham?
This interactive collaborative Web drama, M is for Nottingham?, for the Incubation2 conference was created by Marjorie Coverley Luesebrink. The project combines collaborative webwriting with a mystery game, an introduction to the history and sights of Nottingham, and a live drama. It all takes place in the lead up to, and during, Incubation. Writers come together at the collaborative website to create a persona, find clues on the Web and in the virtual haunts of Nottingham, and write segments of the mystery story.

Home
We invite you to contribute your own memories and imaginings of Home: the sound of it, the scent of it, the feel of it, the taste of it. The place where *you* go for rest, refuge and satisfaction. The site is designed as a series of questions to help focus your thoughts - please answer as few or as many as you wish. Your responses will be added to the collection immediately, and you can also read the contributions of others. Together we are building a Home Page with a difference.

Mapping the transition from page to screen
Mapping the Transition from Page to Screen facilitates examination and analysis of a unique body of material alongside a programme of experiential research involving a collaboration between Kate Pullinger, a print-based author keen to investigate the potential of electronic literature; Sue Thomas, originally a print-based author but now working in both media, and the trAce team of specialists. Pullinger's engagement with the project will be a combination of training and support as she learns how to read and create works in the digital medium. Her stated research intention is 'to find out whether online writing has any value'.

frAme6 Net : Spirit
frAme6 is the 6th issue of trAce's Journal of Culture and Technology. The theme for this issue is Net : Spirit. Includes work by Talan Memmott, Deena Larsen, Randy Adams, Eryk Salvaggio, Duc Thuan and Linda Carroli. The call for frAme 7 will be announced later in 2002.
